Safe sun with Coola

Safe sun with Coola

Taille voyage contient 88 ml / prix 24 CHF

Taille normale 236 ml / prix 42 CHF

Site Coola

#newlaunch Kiehl’s Calendula serum-infused water cream

#newlaunch Kiehl’s Calendula serum-infused water cream

Hello everyone, today I’m super excited to share this blog post about the new Kiehl’s Calendula serum-infused water cream! If you follow me on Instagram (@lecorbeaublancblog) maybe you saw a few stories about the event and a quick view of the Calendula range.

The afterwork took place at the Kiehl’s boutique in Globus (Lausanne), the whole store was decorated in beautiful orange and yellow flowers. To animate the evening and cheers us up (weather was a bit gray and gloomy) we had gorgeous flower crowns, fresh orange/ginger juice (white wine too) and Kiehl’s sales advisors and marketing team to explain all the details about the new Calendula member.

Before getting into more details, I’m just brefly going to describe what the Calendula range is all about.

Kiehl’s has been using Calendula since the 1960’s and this range of products is targeted for normal-to-oily skin. This flower, is often attributed to having calming and soothing properties, and is known to provide hydration while helping improve the skin barrier and overall skin quality.

Have I tried something from this range before? Yes, I have tried their alcohol-free toner and mask! The toner was super gentle and fresh on my skin, I was very surprise when I saw the actual calendula flower petals swimming round in the bottle. Right now I’m using their Cucumber Herbal alcohol free toner and I like it too.

For the mask, I bought it a few years ago while I was traveling. I thought it was a good idea to gave a travel size of the mask to help my skin recover some hydration after many hours in a plane. The consistency is like a thick gel and feels cooling and fresh. Actually this mask should be a great addition for any summer skin care routine! One of the girls at Kiehl’s suggested in having this mask in the fridge and use it after a hot day #brilliantidea.

So, Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream, What does that name even means?

Let’s start by water cream: “Water creams are lightweight, gel moisturizers with a unique formulation.” Indeed, the texture of this cream is very watery when you massage it into the skin and it absorbs pretty fast. This formulation was created to “house” the concentrated calendula serum.

The Calendula Serum: “Contains the highest concentrate of Calendula Flower Extract and hundreds of micronized Calendula petals. Thanks to these serum, this product claims that it will help skin resist early signs of aging including uneven texture, dullness, and dry fine lines.”

Full list of ingredientes here

I went to the Kiehl’s USA website (since the product has been released there for a bit longer) and most people claimed a positive note, mainly because of the lightweight texture. I’m excited to try this moisturizer and also be able to give my own feedback! I still have a couple of products to finish before I can actually start testing all the range together, but as soon as I start doing it, I’ll keep updating my results.

During the event, we where able to do a skin consultation, which I think is super important to do, people really need to know what type of skin they have before they buy ANY type of product. I have combination skin (oily t-zone but dryer cheeks) and my main concerns are to keep my skin hydrated and even-looking. This means the Calendula range suits me, YAY!

Mathieu did a little test on my skin, and as we can see I have normal to oily skin AKA combination.

After the event, Kiehl’s Switzerland very kindly gifted us, a couple of the Calendula range products. The cleanser, toner and of course the star of the night the serum-infused water cream!

A huge thank you toKiehl’s Switzerland team and EBPR agency for all your attentions.

Disclaimer: Products were kidly #gifted but this is article is NOT a paid collaboration.

Gucci Marmont : 1 year review

Gucci Marmont : 1 year review

Hello there! Today I’ll be doing a review about me favorite bag! The Gucci Marmont in the mini size. I’ve been wearing this bag almost every single day since I got it, and it has been one of my must worn items so far!

I waited for almost a year to get this bag, and honestly this period of waiting gave me the time to think, why and how I was going to wear this bag. I was afraid of getting the IT bag, and then after the trend is over get stucked with an expensive bag I wasn’t going to use.

There are a couple of details in this bag that makes it a classic in my opinion.

First I’ll get into the general details:

The official name is: GG Marmont matelassé mini bag

Price: 1,550 CHF

Materials: Black matelassé chevron leather with heart at the back, and antique gold-tone hardware.

Mini size: W22cm x H13cm x D6cm

Made in: Italy

First of all, the shape it has a very simple and practical shape that will never go out of style. The fact that I choose the leather version in the black color also helped a lot, since I can wear it with any outfit. The mini size is also very useful, big enough to carry all my essentials, but it can also be worn at night and still look elegant.

You can wear it as normal purse on your shoulder with the double chain or as a crossbody. I usually use it on my shoulder, but I like the fact I can choose! The mini size is perfect, because even if you use it as a crossbody it will never loose its shape. The medium size on the other hand does, and when it’s worn as a crossbody the top of the bags looks weird.

This bag also comes in many different colors (red, beige, white, baby pink, metallic golden/pink, and metallic red/pink) materials (velvet, raffia or snake skin) and sizes (medium, mini and super mini). But as I previously mentioned I wanted something that would be timeless and easy to wear.

After one full year of use, I was expecting to have much more damage in the bag. The corners are usually the first places you show the wear on a bag, and mine are in perfect conditions. I have also done some traveling with this bag, I went to Vietnam and Mexico and when you’re traveling and moving aroung you can’t really take the same care of precautions as when you’re home. For example, I remember while I was in Vietnam, we got caught in the rain while walking on the street and nothing happened to my bag (I was afraid of the stains water can leave on some materials). Also the hundreds of times I opened the bag to get my passport and all the security filters… I was really happy with the quality of the leather!

The interior of the back also ended up surprising me, its made of a microfiber lining with a suede-like finish, in a light pink/beige color. Light interiors are made to easily find your things, but in the other side it also makes it easier for dirt and stains to show. I know maybe others won’t find it problematic, but personally I do care about this type of details and I try to be careful. I regularly clear my bag and I gently swipe away any dust that can get accumulated, and I also try use baby wipes and clean the items that go into my bag. The interior looks brand new to me so I don’t have any complaints!

What can I fit in the bag? I’m not someone that carries a lot of things, a small bag is more than enough! I usually carry my wallet (mine is small but you can fit a big one), key pouch, sunglasses, lipstick, reusable tissue bag (folded), and hand sanitizer.

Also, a few days ago I placed an order from the brand Samorga, this website makes bag organizers (inserts) for every single luxury bag we know! I already have a bag organizer for my Louis Vuitton “neverfull” bag, and I can’t recomment it enough! It helps my bag to hold its shape but also find things easily! The problem with big bags is that you can loose everything inside. For my Marmont bag this is not the case, but I just want something to continue to protect the interior of the bag.

Bags are made to be worn and show their marks with pride I guess, I have no intentions of selling my bags or anything like that, I just want to be able to enjoy them as much as I can. I can’t really afford a new bag as the season dictates the new IT bag every couple of months, so I just try go for pieces that I know will look great in the years to come!

Who knows maybe one day I’ll be able to get my hands on a classic Chanel double flap in caviar leather? *the absolute dream bag*

Bisous,

Katia

Trend ingredients for sensitive skin.

Trend ingredients for sensitive skin.

Hello everyone! Today I’ll be listing a couple of “trendy” ingredients that lately brands are incorporating into their products! I had a huge list of ingredients that I wanted to include and while doing my research, I realized I needed to create different categories.

Why? Because even if the ingredients are different, their properties are targeted for the same problem! (also to make it shorter and coherent) So, in this post, we are going to talk about ingredients used to reduce skin sensitivity (and one makeup brand).

Cannabis

Cannabis is a complex subject, for the beauty products I’m going to feature we’re going to stick only with CBD* (legal in Switzerland to smoke, drink, eat etc…) short for cannabidiol, and Hemp.

Recent studies show that these ingredients can help as anti-inflammatory and antioxidants for the skin. After reading a couple of product descriptions, I realized that most of them mentioned: soothing properties, calming redness, balance hydration and in general good for sensitive skin.

* is one of the dozens of chemical compounds found in Cannabis plants that act on the body. CBD works with our body’s endocannabinoid system to balance, regulate and restore many physical functions in the body, including the skin.

Recently Kiehl’s launched their “Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate” in the USA (no news from any other country soon). I read the reviews on their website and most people seemed to appreciate the oil especially those who claimed to have acne prone skin (anti-inflammatory) or problem areas like dry patches (balance hydration).

This oil contains 60% of Cannabis Sativa seed oil, this oil is derived from Hemp and used in skincare formulas to provide essential moisture and nourishment while helping strengthen skin’s barrier. Since it is derived from the stalks and seeds of the plant, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil contains less than 0.3% THC making it non-psychoactive.

Kiehl’s provides a full page of information about Cannabis and it’s usage for skincare click here to read more.

Herbivore is another American brand that recently launched two different face oils, one delivered from Hemp and the second containing CBD.

First we have Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil, it contains:

Cannabis Essential (Hemp Essential) oil is rich in natural Terpenes — the organic chemical compounds that give each strain of Cannabis its unique flavor and aroma — and helps to calm the mind through holistic aromatherapy.

Ashwagandha and Turmeric root both stem from Ayurvedic healing practices and help the skin cope with environmental stressors like pollution, UV rays, lack of sleep, daily stress, and more. Shiitake mushroom is loaded with Vitamin D to support healthy skin and prevent premature signs of aging.

Helichrysum Essential oil is highly effective for soothing signs of irritation, this miraculous essential oil grants your senses peace and tranquility with its light herbal aroma.

Squalane, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Borage Seed Oil are a trio of hydrating beauty oils that ensure the skin is high on glow and all-day moisture.

We can actually shop Emerald oil, at the Herbivore website and get delivered in Switzerland click here.

The second oil, is Emerald CBD, it has to be shipped separately from the rest of Herbivore products and it’s only available in the USA. The difference is that Emerald CBD contains 100 mg of premium organic Colorado grown full-spectrum CBD.

I found this version to be quite interesting, because they mentioned their oil can be targeted for skin chronical conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

People suffering from these conditions can have a hard time, especially when it comes to experiencing pain/discomfort and of course the way their skin looks.

Herbivore also provides a page full of information about the usage and development of Cannabis in skincare here.

Moving on to makeup, Milk Makeup is a brand that also adopted Cannabis into their range of products and here’s why!

They wanted to create vegan products so, in order to replace beeswax, a common binding component (the substance that makes mascara stick to your lashes), from their list of ingredients, they added hemp-derived cannabis oil in exchange.

Currently, their Kush range is composed by their best-selling mascara, lip balm, lip glaze, and brow gel.

Disclaimer: Cannabis is a very delicate subject depending on the cultural background we come from. I’m by no means encouraging its consumption for recreational purposes, but enlighting the fact that some of its properties might have a positive outcome while treating difficult skin conditions.

Blue Tansy

I bet you have seen one of these captivating blue oils! Obviously my main curiosity for these products was due to their color. I wanted to know if it was just a simple coincidence, or if there was actually a reason for the pigmentation of these products. The answer is Blue Tansy, a plant native from Morroco, part of the chamomile family that shares a lot of their properties.

For the following products, I realized that the main usage of blue tansy is for balancing the fact that other ingredients in the formulations are quite strong and might cause skin irritation, like retinol and acids used to resurface the appearance of the skin.

I have previously talked about Sunday RileyLuna Oil“, and I’m currently using it as my last step in my night time routine and I’m very happy with the results! I have shared in previous occasions, that the Luna Oil is a gentle way to start out with resurfacing products, the key is consistency!

Luna Oil works throughout the night leaving a luminous, even-toned skin in the morning! To achieve a more radiant complexion, I highly suggest massaging the oil into your skin with a Gua-Sha stone.

This product contains: Trans-retinol acid ester complex that reduces the appearance of pores, uneven texture, dryness, and dullness (also wrinkles and fine-lines but I can’t give any feedback for those concerns). The formulation is balanced with blue tansy and German chamomile essential oils, both rich in soothing, blue azulene, reduce redness and signs of sensitivity, for a calm, even-toned complexion.

Then we have Herbivore with yet a facial oil containing blue tansy: Lapis Facial Oil, the name of this products is inspired from the Lapis stone, that was highly appreciated in Ancient Egypt because of its gorgeous blue color.

Lapis Facial Oil, This oil holds a component called Azulene (found in Blue Tansy) which aids in soothing dry irritated skin, reducing the appearance of redness and balancing skin. Formulated for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of balancing hydration.

Now we have the mask Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarifying Mask. A truly natural mask that gently clarifies blemish-prone skin with:

Fruit Enzymes: Natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) including papaya and pineapple work to gently exfoliate and leave the complexion smooth and refined.

White Willow Bark: A natural beta hydroxy acid (BHA), it is high in anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial Salicin to help clarify skin.

Blue Tansy Essential Oil: to soothe the appearance of redness.

And voilà! As you can see these plant-based ingredients can be used in different skin care products, I hope this article was helpful for some of you struggling with sensitive skin or just those like me that want to discover new products and know more about different ingredients and why we use them!

Stay tuned for the next chapter featuring Vitamin C ! and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for daily updates @lecorbeaublancblog

Beauty & life lessons from MOM

Beauty & life lessons from MOM

Hello! I hope you’re doing great, to be honest with you I had a couple of down days in the last few weeks, those days where you’re tired of adulting, and all you want to do is run home and eat your mom’s food, like in the good old days.

So, I took inspiration from her and decided to share a couple of lessons she had taught me.

Prevention is key

My mother is the most organized and preventive person I know. Since my early teenage years, she always took the time to talk about the changes my body was going to experience, as we all pass through the amazing phase of puberty *eye roll*. She really insisted that I should start taking care of my face and body.

One of her tips was to incorporate sweet almond oil to my routine, to avoid getting stretch marks. She used to tell me that back when she was a teenager, she never had the opportunity to talk about these type of things with her mom, so she never got the chance to prevent them.

So, religiously morning and night I used to apply sweet almond oil (alone or mixed with body cream). Honestly, it worked! I’m not going to say I don’t have stretch marks anywhere because I do! I got very small and thin ones on my bum, but I never got them on my thighs, lower back or chest area.

I think having stretch marks is almost inevitable and completetly normal , I’m thankful that today they’re almost undetectable to the human eye (except in the hideous changing rooms, where the light has been created to maximize the appearance of un-existing flaws).

Recently I tested Kiehl’sCreme de Corps Nourishing Dry Body Oil” among the ingredients we find: apricot oil, squalene, sesame seed oil, avocado oil, castor seed oil, grape seed oil, sunflower seed oil & rosemary extract.

Photo credits Kiehl’s IG official account

The smell is very pleasant and I love how my skin feels after using it. What I love the most is that it made me remember my little oil ritual, I had tried the rest of the “Creme de Corps” range and if you have the chance I will highly suggest them too.

Consistency

This is one is really hard for me, and I still can’t believe that my mother has been exercising at home even before my brother and I were born! She always encouraged me to practice any physical activity, but even today I find it hard to do it on a daily basis. Something that works for me is doing different courses at the gym, this way I feel motivated by other people and I have the chance to do different courses targeted to different places of my body!

Stay curious

One of our favorite activities together was to read magazines in the afternoons, at that time Instagram wasn’t the center of my universe, so I remember getting all my beauty knowledge and royals gossip from Hello! and Glamour.

You know I’m obsessed with discovering new launches especially when it comes to minimal makeup products or skincare.

My little update: For makeup, I’m particularly happy with the brand NudeStix (This brand was founded by a mother and her daughters), I talk about them quite frequently on my IG stories. For skincare, I’m enjoying the last month of my personalized Apothecary preparations oil-in serum also from Kiehl’s, I bought this serum when I was in Mexico City, back in September.

If you’re skincare junkie like me, you will love having your very own serum! It consists of a Skin Strengthening Concentrate + 2 targeted complexes (mine was targeted for clarity and enlarged pores) sadly the formula lasts only up to 6 months so I’m about to finish mine.

Read more about the serum here

Confidence

Definitely, we can only get better at this with as we get older and get to experience life, but having a good examples always helps.

My mom has been married to a pilot for almost 30 years now, I never realize until now all the things she had to face alone on a daily basis. Take into consideration that not so long ago, we weren’t able to FaceTime people on the other side of the world and long distance calls where super expensive!

So, one of the qualities that I admire on my mom is how confident and strong she is, most of the times she faced sick children (or dog), adult stuff and everyday life on her own, and when my dad finally came back crisis was over (of course).

As you see confidence is not only for our appearance it’s also about our life choices and how we face difficult times.

Kind heart

No matter how much you try to change your makeup or your clothes, true beauty can only shine if we’re kind to others.

My mother is a very reserved woman, but she will be the first person to help out others, but something that I really love about her is her ability to show kindness to animals, and it is proven that people showing empathy to animals tend to be kind and compassionate beings, let’s take Schopenhauer statement as an example:

“Compassion for animals is intimately associated with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.”

― Arthur Schopenhauer, The Basis of Morality

The end! I hope you liked reading this type of posts they’re a little bit more personal, but as you see everything we do is connected.

what’s the best lesson your mom gave you?

Love,

Katia
