#newlaunch Kiehl’s Calendula serum-infused water cream

Hello everyone, today I’m super excited to share this blog post about the new Kiehl’s Calendula serum-infused water cream! If you follow me on Instagram (@lecorbeaublancblog) maybe you saw a few stories about the event and a quick view of the Calendula range.

The afterwork took place at the Kiehl’s boutique in Globus (Lausanne), the whole store was decorated in beautiful orange and yellow flowers. To animate the evening and cheers us up (weather was a bit gray and gloomy) we had gorgeous flower crowns, fresh orange/ginger juice (white wine too) and Kiehl’s sales advisors and marketing team to explain all the details about the new Calendula member.

Before getting into more details, I’m just brefly going to describe what the Calendula range is all about.

Kiehl’s has been using Calendula since the 1960’s and this range of products is targeted for normal-to-oily skin. This flower, is often attributed to having calming and soothing properties, and is known to provide hydration while helping improve the skin barrier and overall skin quality.

Have I tried something from this range before? Yes, I have tried their alcohol-free toner and mask! The toner was super gentle and fresh on my skin, I was very surprise when I saw the actual calendula flower petals swimming round in the bottle. Right now I’m using their Cucumber Herbal alcohol free toner and I like it too.

For the mask, I bought it a few years ago while I was traveling. I thought it was a good idea to gave a travel size of the mask to help my skin recover some hydration after many hours in a plane. The consistency is like a thick gel and feels cooling and fresh. Actually this mask should be a great addition for any summer skin care routine! One of the girls at Kiehl’s suggested in having this mask in the fridge and use it after a hot day #brilliantidea.

So, Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream, What does that name even means?

Let’s start by water cream: “Water creams are lightweight, gel moisturizers with a unique formulation.” Indeed, the texture of this cream is very watery when you massage it into the skin and it absorbs pretty fast. This formulation was created to “house” the concentrated calendula serum.

The Calendula Serum: “Contains the highest concentrate of Calendula Flower Extract and hundreds of micronized Calendula petals. Thanks to these serum, this product claims that it will help skin resist early signs of aging including uneven texture, dullness, and dry fine lines.”

Full list of ingredientes here

I went to the Kiehl’s USA website (since the product has been released there for a bit longer) and most people claimed a positive note, mainly because of the lightweight texture. I’m excited to try this moisturizer and also be able to give my own feedback! I still have a couple of products to finish before I can actually start testing all the range together, but as soon as I start doing it, I’ll keep updating my results.

During the event, we where able to do a skin consultation, which I think is super important to do, people really need to know what type of skin they have before they buy ANY type of product. I have combination skin (oily t-zone but dryer cheeks) and my main concerns are to keep my skin hydrated and even-looking. This means the Calendula range suits me, YAY!

Mathieu did a little test on my skin, and as we can see I have normal to oily skin AKA combination.

After the event, Kiehl’s Switzerland very kindly gifted us, a couple of the Calendula range products. The cleanser, toner and of course the star of the night the serum-infused water cream!

A huge thank you toKiehl’s Switzerland team and EBPR agency for all your attentions.

Disclaimer: Products were kidly #gifted but this is article is NOT a paid collaboration.

Capharnaüm

Capharnaüm

Quite a different subject from my usual content, but I just finish watching the Lebanese drama film directed by Nadine Lebaki in 2018.

I saw the trailer a couple of months ago, and it was until now that I finally got the time to watch the film. I thought I knew what to expect but actually I didn’t… I’m going to leave the trailer of the film in this post as well. Don’t worry I won’t spoil the movie, but after you watch the trailer you can continue reading my post!

Now that you watched the trailer, you’re in the mood for a deep talk. Can you imagine being a 12 y/o already disgusted, tired and agry about life? I can’t, not even in a hard day of work, I would be able to compare my life with someone that want to sue his own parents for giving him life.

After watching this film, I confirmed my theory about life. “Sadly life is not created equal for everyone, and the saddest part is that some people will never realize they’re entitled for a better one”. If you have access to my content I guess you have at least a 3G connection mobile or you’re using a laptop/desktop (you probably have the 3 of them) then you’re part of the 56.1% of the world population that has internet access. If you’re reading this post and your native laguage is not english, you’re part of the 1 billion that speaks english as a second language. If you speak a thirth language you’re part of the 13% of world population that can do it. (Source: World Economic Forum)

My point here is that there are so many things that we take for granted in our daily lifes. It is amazing to have goals and work hard to achieve them, and once you get them go ahead for new ones! But please, do not forget in those moments of pressure and doubts that you’re already making it, all your efforts account even the ones that seems so small to your eyes!

Please don’t minimize your efforts or take them for granted, something that might seem so easy for you, might be a big deal for someone else.

Y We’re living in a society that never has enough (money, recognition, love, time, degrees etc…) and it’s actually so sad! While we are complaining about material things, people in other countries are suffering for basic needs, such as education or legal papers, and actually very few do care about it.

The purpose of this post is not make us feel bad about being “most fortunate” because, at the end of the day, we can not choose in what country or condition you’re going to grow up. My aim is just to enlight the fact that whenever is possible try to be informed about the different problems/situations our world is suffering and maybe try to make baby steps for a change. Let’s just take an example:

You love animals? Great, donate a small amount to your local animal shelter or find an international association that works with animals in other places.

Wild at Heart Foundation

« Wild at Heart Foundation funds animal welfare projects all over the world. We are on a mission to compassionately reduce the world’s 600 million stray dog population through rescue projects, neutering programmes and education initiatives. By 2025 we want to rehome 10,000 dogs, neuter 100,000 dogs and educate 1,000,000 »

This was just an example, but really any cause, any amount or any type of help can make a difference. Even the fact of being a ware of a problem is already a step. I know sometimes in our daily habits and routines we don’t seem to have time to appreciate all our blessings, just try at leat every night to mention 3 things that you’re greatfull for, even if your day was hard. I’m pretty sure you came back home to a warm place, you eat something and you have hopefully someone’s company.

Mysery is hard to watch and sometimes people prefere to turn away from it, because it’s really heartbreaking, but the only way to build a compasionate society is being part of the solution.

I hope you’ll get the chance to see the film and learn something from it. As I said before it has been one of the hardest/real films I’ve seen. Every dialogue and scene felt so raw, full of desperation, tierdness of ingnorance and neglect.

See you soon!

PD. Capharnaüm means chaos in arabic

Katia

Gucci Marmont : 1 year review

Gucci Marmont : 1 year review

Hello there! Today I’ll be doing a review about me favorite bag! The Gucci Marmont in the mini size. I’ve been wearing this bag almost every single day since I got it, and it has been one of my must worn items so far!

I waited for almost a year to get this bag, and honestly this period of waiting gave me the time to think, why and how I was going to wear this bag. I was afraid of getting the IT bag, and then after the trend is over get stucked with an expensive bag I wasn’t going to use.

There are a couple of details in this bag that makes it a classic in my opinion.

First I’ll get into the general details:

The official name is: GG Marmont matelassé mini bag

Price: 1,550 CHF

Materials: Black matelassé chevron leather with heart at the back, and antique gold-tone hardware.

Mini size: W22cm x H13cm x D6cm

Made in: Italy

First of all, the shape it has a very simple and practical shape that will never go out of style. The fact that I choose the leather version in the black color also helped a lot, since I can wear it with any outfit. The mini size is also very useful, big enough to carry all my essentials, but it can also be worn at night and still look elegant.

You can wear it as normal purse on your shoulder with the double chain or as a crossbody. I usually use it on my shoulder, but I like the fact I can choose! The mini size is perfect, because even if you use it as a crossbody it will never loose its shape. The medium size on the other hand does, and when it’s worn as a crossbody the top of the bags looks weird.

This bag also comes in many different colors (red, beige, white, baby pink, metallic golden/pink, and metallic red/pink) materials (velvet, raffia or snake skin) and sizes (medium, mini and super mini). But as I previously mentioned I wanted something that would be timeless and easy to wear.

After one full year of use, I was expecting to have much more damage in the bag. The corners are usually the first places you show the wear on a bag, and mine are in perfect conditions. I have also done some traveling with this bag, I went to Vietnam and Mexico and when you’re traveling and moving aroung you can’t really take the same care of precautions as when you’re home. For example, I remember while I was in Vietnam, we got caught in the rain while walking on the street and nothing happened to my bag (I was afraid of the stains water can leave on some materials). Also the hundreds of times I opened the bag to get my passport and all the security filters… I was really happy with the quality of the leather!

The interior of the back also ended up surprising me, its made of a microfiber lining with a suede-like finish, in a light pink/beige color. Light interiors are made to easily find your things, but in the other side it also makes it easier for dirt and stains to show. I know maybe others won’t find it problematic, but personally I do care about this type of details and I try to be careful. I regularly clear my bag and I gently swipe away any dust that can get accumulated, and I also try use baby wipes and clean the items that go into my bag. The interior looks brand new to me so I don’t have any complaints!

What can I fit in the bag? I’m not someone that carries a lot of things, a small bag is more than enough! I usually carry my wallet (mine is small but you can fit a big one), key pouch, sunglasses, lipstick, reusable tissue bag (folded), and hand sanitizer.

Also, a few days ago I placed an order from the brand Samorga, this website makes bag organizers (inserts) for every single luxury bag we know! I already have a bag organizer for my Louis Vuitton “neverfull” bag, and I can’t recomment it enough! It helps my bag to hold its shape but also find things easily! The problem with big bags is that you can loose everything inside. For my Marmont bag this is not the case, but I just want something to continue to protect the interior of the bag.

Bags are made to be worn and show their marks with pride I guess, I have no intentions of selling my bags or anything like that, I just want to be able to enjoy them as much as I can. I can’t really afford a new bag as the season dictates the new IT bag every couple of months, so I just try go for pieces that I know will look great in the years to come!

Who knows maybe one day I’ll be able to get my hands on a classic Chanel double flap in caviar leather? *the absolute dream bag*

Katia

Glossier: 1 month update |Skincare edit

Glossier: 1 month update |Skincare edit

Hello everyone! Today I want to update you after one month of using Glossier skincare and makeup! You know how much I loved this brand, and I want to be completely honest and tell you what products are worth it, and also about those I’ll skip in my next glossier order.

To make things short, I’m only going to talk about skincare and next week about makeup!

The good

Milky Jelly Cleanser

I have already finish one bottle of this cleanser before, and it’s one of my favorites! The consistency as the name suggests it’s like a cream-gel, I use it morning and night and my skin loves it! The formula is gentle and it doesn’t stripes moisture away from your face. What I love the most is that it feels like a very simple product, the smell is nice but discrete and the result is just clean and soft skin.

Next time I’ll make sure to order more than one bottle to have backups!

Price 16€

Balm Dotcom

An all-purpose skin and lip balm, the Birthday Cake flavor is my favorite and I use it every single day! My lips feel super hydrated and plumped.

A few days ago, I was spent the whole day in the mountain, trying to learn to snowboard, and sadly I burned my lips because I didn’t thought of using SPF on them… long story short: After two days and many layers of Balm Dotcom my normal lips are back 👌🏻.

I have also tried the Rose flavor, but honestly Birthday Cake is the best one!

Price 12€

Priming Moisturizer

I love trying out new moisturizers! This year I had the chance to try many good ones! So far, you know that Clinique Moisture Surge it’s really one of my musts, the only downside it’s the price 42 CHF for 50 ml, Normally 50ml is perfect for one month (if you use it AM & PM).

Glossier moisturizer, is just as nice as Clinique and perfect for my type of skin, I have an oily T-zone but dryer cheeks. My skin feels plumped, but never oily or heavy.

Price 21€ for 50ml.

What I loved the most of these 3 products, is that you can order them together in a set called The Skin Care Set for 40€. I find this set is really useful if you want to test the brand for the first time.

The ok … but not ordering next time

Non of the Glossier products made me breakout or made my skin look bad, so I don’t want you to think they’re BAD, is just that I have tested other products in the market, that have given me better or faster result than the ones from Glossier, and this is why, I’m not ordering in the future.

The Solution

This chemical exfoliant is one of their must appreciated products, and according to many reviews and photos on their website, it is a very effective product, also the percentage of acids are very high.

I have to admit that this product made the texture of my skin look smooth and even, BUT I have tried another chemical exfoliant in the past that just makes my skin glow like no other, if you had followed my blog for a while, you might be able to remember, I once talked about the Liquid Gold from Alpha- H.

It’s been a while since I haven’t re-ordered Liquid Gold, but if I was to stay with only one chemical exfoliant for the rest of my life, it will be without a doubt that one! You can see results from the very first days of using it, and for me is just like baby skin in a bottle. I would highly recommend it (except for those who have very sensitive skin).

My must, I order it from Cult Beauty

Invisible Shield SPF 30

You know I have a thing for sunscreen, and I will never get tired of repeating that everyone should be using it daily!

I really liked the texture and how this sunscreen absorbs and sits on my skin, but I always use SPF 50. That’s the minimum my dermatologist recommends me, and I know my skin is very delicate to sun exposure, so I just feel better knowing I have the maximum protection.

SPF 15 filters out approximately 93 percent of all incoming UVB rays. SPF 30 keeps out 97 percent and SPF 50 keeps out 98 percent. They may seem like negligible differences, but if you are light-sensitive, or have a history of skin cancer, those extra percentages will make a difference. And as you can see, no sunscreen can block all UV rays.

Extract from SkinCancer.org

That’s all guys! I try to be as honest and transparent as I can, I do love this brand a lot, and I’m always sharing a lot on Instagram about it, but nevertheless, it is very important for me to recommend and talk about the best!

Remember we all have different types of skin and we’re going to react in different ways to products.

Have you tried any skincare from this brand? Don’t hesitate to share with me yout experiences!
