As you may know, each year Pantone proclaimes a color of the year along with different palettes, where we can see the IT color, combined with other shades. For 2017 the color is GREENERY, Pantone 15- 0343.
“Greenery burst forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid and tumultuos social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and larger purpose.” Words by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
So, why we decided to write until now about it? First of all, we were curious to see how the trend was going to develop, and what ideas where going to pop on the market. The first thought about this color, was that it might be a challenge to adapt it to everyday life, since it is more of a bright color and a statement.
Now we can say… WE LOVE IT. And it’s quite simple, because of the vibe that it inspires. Not only this particular color Greenery, all sorts of green are welcome to the trend. Green is by nature is the color that represents earth, life , vitality, wealth, balance, youth … And the list can continue, but we hope you get the idea. To be honest, we might not paint our hole house green, but we can definitely give some touches here and there to create a space just as we described before.
As you can see on the pictures above, the color injects a lot energy in a room. Some people might like the idea of a green sofa and others the accent wall, with this last one being the banana leaves wallpaper our favorite. It will make any room look like a jungle. One of the trends we love the most, is to see this color in different details, that we are able to match with what we already have, for example a couple of new decorative pillows, a green duvet, again with banana leaves all over it. Another good ideas is to add real plants to our rooms, not only they look nice, they are good to clean the air, and boost our humor (if you have pets make sure the plants you get are not toxic for them).
After we talked about all this amazing ideas, where we can get all these green goodies? Well, walking around Lausanne, the store that best captured this green trend was GLOBUS (I mean just take a look at their exhibit windows).
Their new spring campaign is called “Growing with Love”, and Thomas Herbert, Globus CEO explains it like “An answer to the rural life that the city calls for, the need to be our own gardener. The joy of sharing with family and friends what spring has to offer, and how we can adapt more green goodness to our lifestyle”.
As you can see, green looks amazing mixed with a bunch of other colors, don’t be afraid to try!
